Mara Bocanegra

Biography

Colombian DJ born in Bogotá and based in Cali since 2020. Her sound moves between the dark, enveloping textures of techno, hard techno and acid; her sets build an ever-evolving narrative that turns the dance floor into an immersive experience.

Born in Bogotá, her passion for music was sparked by her mother, who let her explore a wide range of musical styles from an early age. Influenced by artists such as Depeche Mode, New Order and Mecano, she decided to study music. Still, she felt the need to follow a path different from conventional music. Thanks to her affinity for disco sounds and her experiences in Bogotá's nightlife, she made the decision to learn to mix. Her project as a DJ began in Bogotá in 2018, where she trained under Seb Mildenberg (Baum Music School). Through that process she built a solid technical understanding of mixing and began shaping a musical proposal influenced by the different electronic sounds that have marked her path. She has lived in Cali since 2020, and has shared the stage with major national and international artists, performing in different cities across the country and building a steadily growing career within Colombia's electronic music scene.
